As we already know, chocolate covered pretzels make a marvellous dessert which can come in handy for almost any occasion. And this dessert will not require a lot of effort to buy or make. But let us talk about a more specific and exquisite variety of this dessert – white chocolate covered pretzels.
Why white chocolate covered pretzels? White chocolate is nowadays a popular confectionery derivative of chocolate. It mainly consists of cocoa butter, sugar and milk, but does not contain cocoa powder which is the reason why its colour goes from creamy to ivory instead of black. It is said to have been invented in Switzerland around the year 1930 to find a use for the excess of cocoa butter. Who could know back then that the invention would be such a blast? But thanks to those confectioners, we now have the possibility to enjoy its remarkable flavour in all forms and shapes, including the white chocolate covered pretzels that you, your family and your guests will certainly love.
Just as with black or milk chocolate covered pretzels, you can order a bag of white chocolate covered pretzels online, or you can very likely find it at a local store, or you can make delicious white chocolate covered pretzels on your own!
If you decide to take matters in your own hands from the beginning to end, first of all you will need to make the pastry for your white chocolate covered pretzels and bake it, that is, to make the pretzels themselves. Let us repeat our simple, but delicious recipe.
Our ingredients:
- -0,5 cup of warm water
- -0,125 teaspoon of active dry yeast
- -2 tablespoons of brown sugar
- -0,125 teaspoon of salt
- -1 cup of bread flour
- -3 cups of regular flour
- -2 cups of warm water
- -4 tablespoons of melted butter
- -2 tablespoons of baking soda
Sprinkle yeast on water in a bowl, stir until dissolved. Add sugar and salt and stir again until dissolved. Add the flour and knead until the dough becomes smooth and elastic. Let it rise for no less than 30 minutes. While it is rising, let us prepare a soda solution: 2 cups of warm water and 2 tablespoons of soda. Make sure to stir the solution often. When the dough has risen, pinch of bits and roll them in a long rope and then tie it in a knot-like shape to get a classic pretzel. Ah, here is the pretty future white chocolate covered pretzel! Dip it in our soda solution and place the pretzel on a greased baking sheet. Then let it rise again for a bit and put it in the oven heated to 230 degrees Celsius (or 450 degrees Fahrenheit). Bake the pretzels until golden (about 10 minutes) and then brush them with melted butter.
Perfect! Now we only need to go from just pretzels to white chocolate covered pretzels! Take a white chocolate bar, break it into several small pieces and put it in a saucepan. Switch on a low heat and stir the white chocolate pieces until melted completely. Dip each pretzel in the liquid white chocolate cover and put it carefully on waxed paper (you can use baking paper) or on a dish right away. You can also add some decorations to your white chocolate covered pretzels before the chocolate has hardened: colourful sprinkles, almond petals or dark chocolate crumbs! Put the ready pieces in the refridgerator for at least an hour.
Serve your white chocolate covered pretzels cool and enjoy your dessert!
